I wanted to attach a copy of my storyboard that I put together to help me get ready to create this movie. It helped me to organize my ideas and put something together that made sense and would turn out.

My Video
This video is the one I made for the Multimedia assignment. I made this movie as an example of a project that I could assign to my students. It is a simple explanation of one of the basic elements of design. Without the use of technology I would not have been able to show the images that are examples of what I am teaching. It is not possible for me to bring my students into these different design environments, but I tried to bring the outside to them.

My Class Website
Well it is now the fourth week of class and I believe I have finally created my first and very own website. It was a challenge but I am happy to say that I think I accomplished the task and I think it looks good. My website is called Interior Design Spring 2010, yes very original but it is what I would really call it if I were really teaching. I learned a lot from this experience and realized that I am capable of creating something online and that I can create a website for my future classes.

Stay Safe!
I had an interesting experience this past weekend learning about Internet safety and then being required to teacher someone else how to be safe. I have always thought I was careful about the kind of information I gave out on websites like Facebook and e-mail and I still feel I am doing ok, but as I researched being safe online I found many ideas on how to improve and things to watch out for as I serf the web. Specifically I found that it doesn't always mean being careful about giving out personal information, it is about giving specifics that someone could use as answers to security questions. As I taught the ideas I had learned it brought to my attention other ideas and highlighted new things to be cautious of as I search the internet. The person I was teaching felt certain things were important that I hadn't thought of but once they pointed them out I found they were important for me to look for and for me to teacher my future children and students. We talked particularly about day to day things people can to do to stay safe like use reliable search engines, take advantage of bookmarking tools, check the activity of internet usage, be careful of free software downloaded from the internet, use filters, and a number of other ways to stay protected. This was a great activity for me and I have already started noticing what I do on the internet and what kind of information I am giving out. So to everyone else, stay safe and be careful what you say.

Copyright
We have now made it to the second week of class and I have a new assignment to turn in. I was sent to explore the world of copyright and how it effects teachers and what they can and cannot use. As I was exploring youtube, I was looking for videos that portrayed topics that I will be teaching in my future class. I found this clip about different interior design ideas that I felt was a good follower of copyright laws. They gave credit to different designers by stating their name and the website where they found the information. I also found that they kept the laws for music. Copyright states that a user can use no more than 30 seconds of a particular song. As I was listening to the music they used you can hear a slight snag in the song where they cut it to play the same 30 seconds over and over. They made the song long enough to last the whole presentation, however they played the same 30 seconds of the song so they would not go past copyright laws. As I evaluated the video I found that they did not give credit to the individual who actually took the photo. They gave credit to the designer but not the photographer.
A second video I found on youtube has to do with sewing, which is another aspect of my major and possibly a subject I would teach in a high school. The clip I found violated some specific copyright rules including not citing where the information was found and giving credit to those they should have, and not only did they play the full clip, but almost always, individuals are not to show or display musicals without permission. Musicals and plays seem to have higher standards than regular movies or songs found on iTunes.

Screenshots
The second screenshot is an example of a second aspect of my major, Interior Design. It is called Material Girls and gives tips and ideas on how to make your home beautiful and unique. When I graduate what I hope to be is an Interior Design teacher. I love design in the home and love how this blog provides new ideas to make your home fresh and new.
The final screenshot is a blog I subscribed to called For the Love of Cooking because of my major in FACS Ed. As a teacher I have the possibility of teaching young students in a foods classroom. I felt this blog could be a good resource for new ideas to bring into my classroom.
What I'm Interested In
My Major at BYU is Family and Consumer Science Education. In this major we explore all different areas like cooking, sewing, and interior design. These are some of my interests and I found blogs that I enjoy looking at that I can incorporate into what I am learning in the classroom as well.
My Gadgets
The gadgets I choose to include on my blog are ones that I found interesting and ones that I felt I could keep up with, considering my small understanding of technology and lack of experience. I choose to include an about me page so that readers could get a better understanding of who I am. I also included a blog roll of blogs that reflect my interests. Finally I added pictures to my blog to add to the personal feel.
